Building a car specifically for your series....

After being able to race with you guys at the throwdown last October (went out first round to kimmis wicked bird), I decided that I had so much fun and the other racers were very quick to give pointers and suggestions that I wanted to transform my car into something that fits the class a little better.

I completely stripped the car and sold everything. Dropped it off with Don Dial Race Cars, and they are giving it the full treatment. Front to back!!!

The car was just an old school backhalf car, with a pontiac nitrous motor. It weighed 3400lbs and ran 5 teens on one kit. There isnt one ounce of that ol car left besides the body.

New combo is 482 inch Pontiac engine with twin pt8884 turbos, pt3000 intercooler, electronic injected.

Don Dial Race Cars starts the final welding next week!!!

And I started mocking things up on the engine....just moving forward one step at a time!!

Very cool, that's certainly going to be a unique Outlaw 10.5 car!

Re: Building a car specifically for your series....

Hahaha I'm guessing your talking about running turbos! To be honest, I am a nitrous guy at heart but in order to compete at a high level of racing with nitrous....you need a light car, and big inches. And while I am a nitrous guy, I'm not prepared to throw away my first car, and run a big inch Chevy motor over my pontiac just to be able to race at a faster pace than what I was.

So, if your stuck with a heavy car, small cubic inch with inline heads, and a 14 degree factory valve angle......the only way to REALLY make it run is to hang some turbos off it!!!! I like nitrous, but I love my Pontiac!!! I drove it thru high school, went on my first date in it, and met my wife and started a family while driving this car every day.
